Delete your account

Account deletion · Last updated: 8th August 2026

You can permanently delete your HiveRef account and the data associated with it. This page explains how to do that on the web, in the mobile app, or by contacting us if you cannot sign in. No app install is required to request deletion from this page.

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. It removes your ability to sign in and deletes account-associated workspace data as described below. Some records may be retained where the law requires (for example limited audit or legal obligation records). For broader data subject rights, see Your Rights and our Privacy Policy.

Delete while signed in (web)

  1. Open hiveref.com/sign-in and sign in to your account.
  2. In the app header, open your Account menu.
  3. Choose Delete account, read the confirmation, and confirm deletion.

You can also start deletion from this page when you are already signed in:

Delete in the HiveRef mobile app

  1. Open the HiveRef app and sign in.
  2. Go to Account.
  3. Choose Delete (or Delete account), confirm, and complete the in-app confirmation.

Request deletion by email (not signed in)

If you cannot sign in, or prefer not to use the in-product flow, email us an account deletion request. Use the address you registered with HiveRef so we can identify your account.

Email privacy@hiveref.com and include:

  • The subject line Account deletion request (or clear wording to that effect)
  • The email address used for your HiveRef account
  • Any other detail that helps us verify the request (for example organisation or workspace name)

We will respond within one calendar month, in line with our handling of other data subject requests on Your Rights.

What is deleted

When account deletion completes through the signed-in flow, HiveRef permanently deletes your account so you can no longer sign in, and removes data associated with your account. Depending on your role in a workspace, that can include organisation workspace data, reference checks, candidate records, referee responses, and reports generated under that account. Team members tied only to a workspace that is removed with a sole remaining member will also lose access.

If you are not the sole member of an organisation, ownership may be reassigned to another admin or member before your profile is removed, so the organisation can continue. Email requests are handled the same way after we verify your identity.
